    wireless thermometer

This wireless thermometer works extremely well and is easyto set up - but you absolutely must follow the directions exactly.Range is excellent - but just make sure that some large object suchas a metal shed or a large oak tree is not in line-of-sight betweenany of the transmitters and the receiver.I am using 3 of these temp sensors with the 915 MHz receiver. Onesensor came with the receiver, and I just purchased two more, since thereceiver can display up to three different temperatures from threesensors. However be advised that if you carry one or more of thesesensors out of range and the receiver loses track of it, you absolutelymust take the batteries out of all three sensors and out of thereceiver and re-initialize all of them. This is not a difficult step, since I did it several times while playing around with the sensors tosee how much range they had - which resulted in the receiver... 5/5 Retired "dmk42" (Huntsville, Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) A very tempermental gadget

As a tech guy I admit, I really wanted to love this product but about 30 minutes ago I threw it in the trash. As others have said, you must follow the written directions *precisely* to make the thermometer work. However, once you get a reading from the outdoor sensor, the receiver can lose the signal very easily requiring a needlessly complicated reset. Furthermore, it seems almost anything can interrupt the signal from one piece being too close to a solid object (like a wall or a tree) or a metal object between the transmitter and receiver (such as a metal screen on a window or door). This is true even when the transmitter and receiver are less than 3 feet from each other and using fresh batteries. I'm sorry, that is just not an acceptable level of performance. I'm sure the thermometer works wonders in certain, very specific situations but after 8 months of tinkering with all manner of different configurations, I am convinced this product is just not suited to a typical urban... 1/5 N.D.O. - See all my reviews This review is from: La Crosse Technology WS-9160U-IT Digital Thermometer with Indoor/Outdoor Temperature (Kitchen) As a tech guy I admit, I really wanted to love this product but about 30 minutes ago I threw it in the trash. Not a precision instrument, but a good value

0 5/5 Idler (Boston MA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Taylor 1522 Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Kitchen) The description of this thermometer claims 1 degree resolution for both F and C, but the actual resolution is more like 2 degrees F. But at the price (~$10 with shipping) there's no complaint. The thermometer readings seem accurate, the outside probe and inside sensor have different response characteristics so that there is a delay in the temperature readings. When I originally turned it on I was disappointed that the two temperatures weren't identical when the remote probe was at the display unit, but after waiting a while the readings were identical, it was just that the thermal time reponse of the display unit thermometer and the remote sensor are different - the remote sensor seems faster to respond.I've been using it to monitor the air temperature at warm air heating registers - the 10 foot cable to the sensor makes this very easy.I'm very satisfied.update 26 months later (feb 2012): still working just fine ... 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 24, 2009

    Inaccurate outdoor temperature

0 1/5 Tom B. (Naperville, IL USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Taylor 1522 Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Kitchen) Great price but poor performance. I received this yesterday with the typical excellent Amazon service. I put in batteries and left it sit on the kitchen table overnight with the outdoor sensor right next to the main unit. At this point the indoor temperature reads 70 - about right - but the outdoor temperature reads 84, about 14 degrees off. Hmmm. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 12, 2011

    Simple, inexpensive, consistent temperature readings

0 5/5 Amazon Customer (Somerville, Ma, US) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Taylor 1522 Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Kitchen) I was looking for inexpensive thermometers in order to do a temperature profile of several rooms of my house. I bought five of these, which gave me ten easily read temperature points. When placed together all ten points read within a degree of each other, which is pretty good since they were not sheltered from drafts in any way. The remote end is pretty small so you wouldn't have to make a very big hole in order to get it outside if you want to really use it as an indoor/outdoor thermometer. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 11, 2010
