    wireless thermometer

This wireless thermometer works extremely well and is easyto set up - but you absolutely must follow the directions exactly.Range is excellent - but just make sure that some large object suchas a metal shed or a large oak tree is not in line-of-sight betweenany of the transmitters and the receiver.I am using 3 of these temp sensors with the 915 MHz receiver. Onesensor came with the receiver, and I just purchased two more, since thereceiver can display up to three different temperatures from threesensors. However be advised that if you carry one or more of thesesensors out of range and the receiver loses track of it, you absolutelymust take the batteries out of all three sensors and out of thereceiver and re-initialize all of them. This is not a difficult step, since I did it several times while playing around with the sensors tosee how much range they had - which resulted in the receiver... 5/5 Retired "dmk42" (Huntsville, Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) OK at best...

I bought a couple of these this last Christmas (2009), one for a gift and one to use myself. I liked the idea of the large read out and the simplicity of the display. Time, inside temp, and outside temp. I didn't see the need for the full blown weather station with the ability to forecast the weather. Somehow I don't think a simple device can do what mankind has struggled with for the last 100 years at least. But I digress...As stated, the readout is big and clear so that's a plus. It requires little knowledge to set it up correctly. Just follow the included instructions and you'll be up and running in 5 minutes. I've only had it running now for two months but the regular alkaline batteries are holding up well. With the remote set about 80 - 100 feet away it indicates with a flashing icon that it's receiving the signal fine. So that's all good. Now the bad. Or maybe I should say "not so good." It's accuracy is questionable to be sure. Even putting... 3/5 TheDougmeister - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not a precision instrument, but a good value

0 5/5 Idler (Boston MA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Taylor 1522 Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Kitchen) The description of this thermometer claims 1 degree resolution for both F and C, but the actual resolution is more like 2 degrees F. But at the price (~$10 with shipping) there's no complaint. The thermometer readings seem accurate, the outside probe and inside sensor have different response characteristics so that there is a delay in the temperature readings. When I originally turned it on I was disappointed that the two temperatures weren't identical when the remote probe was at the display unit, but after waiting a while the readings were identical, it was just that the thermal time reponse of the display unit thermometer and the remote sensor are different - the remote sensor seems faster to respond.I've been using it to monitor the air temperature at warm air heating registers - the 10 foot cable to the sensor makes this very easy.I'm very satisfied.update 26 months later (feb 2012): still working just fine ... 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 24, 2009

    Inaccurate outdoor temperature

0 1/5 Tom B. (Naperville, IL USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Taylor 1522 Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Kitchen) Great price but poor performance. I received this yesterday with the typical excellent Amazon service. I put in batteries and left it sit on the kitchen table overnight with the outdoor sensor right next to the main unit. At this point the indoor temperature reads 70 - about right - but the outdoor temperature reads 84, about 14 degrees off. Hmmm. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 12, 2011

    Simple, inexpensive, consistent temperature readings

0 5/5 Amazon Customer (Somerville, Ma, US) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Taylor 1522 Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Kitchen) I was looking for inexpensive thermometers in order to do a temperature profile of several rooms of my house. I bought five of these, which gave me ten easily read temperature points. When placed together all ten points read within a degree of each other, which is pretty good since they were not sheltered from drafts in any way. The remote end is pretty small so you wouldn't have to make a very big hole in order to get it outside if you want to really use it as an indoor/outdoor thermometer. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 11, 2010

0 5/5 adam smith (chicago, il usa) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Extech 401014 Big Digit Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Tools & Home Improvement) this is an old-style unit with a probe instead of a wireless transmitter. i've found the wireless units to be erratic. this one is working fine. i especially appreciate the large numbers (1" high) which greatly aid visibility. most competitive units have smaller numbers. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 7, 2008

Easiest to read, best quality, love it !

0 5/5 Albert S. Torizzo "for real" (paradise, florida) - See all my reviews This review is from: Extech 401014 Big Digit Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Tools & Home Improvement) I have purchased pool test equipment of this Extech brand, always top quality. I wanted a replacement for my old thermometer (it gave up the ghost, Radio Shack). After research, this Extech seemed top of the line. Most importantly, I enlarged photos and examined the contrast on the display, i.e. how the figures stood outfrom the backgroud. After careful scrutiny I the made the right choice. My sixty five year old Italian eyes can read the numbers at a quick glance, from a distance. The numbers are very black, sharp edged, and rather than melt into a blurry background like other units, the numbers jump right out at you. Love it, buy it, it isworth the few extra bucks, trust me. Large display

0 5/5 raincrow - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Extech 401014 Big Digit Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer (Tools & Home Improvement) This is a great unit, It has exactly what I wanted, a large display (1" Numbers) without any other readouts such as Clocks, humidity etc. It is very accurate as I compared it to a bare bulb thermometer. The only down side is viewing in a dark room or from an angle, like all the unlit digital readouts they are hard to see in dark spaces or from an angle. I plan to make a flexible mount for mine so I can adjust for best view. I had an old Heathkit indoor/outdoor thermometer with a lighted readout that finally quit on me after 30 years of service, since they are no longer available I believe this is the next best thing. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 22, 2010

    Waiting for the Warm...

It's April, and all of 36 °F outside this morning, according to my , known by some as the "Weather Girl" thermometer, though the forecast is for temperatures going to 57° by mid-afternoon. This unique digital thermometer comes with a AA-battery powered remote sensor and "dress-for-weather" icons that change with the outdoor temperature.Had some mild reservations about this product due to reviews and comments that I had read, but when it showed up on a deal here, I grabbed it, mostly due to excellent service had with the previously purchased ... 5/5 John Williamson (NYC & Bucks County, PA) - See all my reviews, April 13, 2009

0 2/5 mikewoodbooks - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: General Tools & Instruments DTR900 Inside/Outside Thermometer with Minimum/Maximum Memory (Tools & Home Improvement) Upon checking the temperature reading with the external probe next to the unit in the house over several days, the external probe consistantly reads up to 2.5 degrees farenheit warmer. With both temperature guages in the same location they should be identical. I've only seen an identical readout about 1% of the time. 90% of the time the external probe is 1 or 1.5 degrees warmer. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 4, 2013

    Very reliable and accurate

0 4/5 j'Orel Miller - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: General Tools & Instruments DTR900 Inside/Outside Thermometer with Minimum/Maximum Memory (Tools & Home Improvement) I have two of these. One has been in use for several years. I read a review that said the outside and inside temperatures aren't the same when the outside probe is placed next to the unit. This has not been my experience; when I do this, the temps are within .5 degrees F of each other. The outside probe responds to temperature changes much faster than the inside base unit, so if you test the unit this way, you need to wait a while for the inside unit to catch up to the outside probe reading.I would have given this five stars, except there doesn't seem to be any way to reverse the outside and inside readings (for example, to use the unit on the outside of a freezer to monitor the inside temperature of the freezer). In this application, "outside" is really "inside". 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 16, 2014
