About this book
Vision of loveliness: She was as elusive as the legendary deer he was hunting—a creature of mist and shadow, there one moment and gone the next. Like his quarry, her skin glowed white as moonlight, but her hair was scarlet and she showed no fear at his approach. And when he laid eyes on her, Chief Hawke knew she must be his. Vision of danger: From her first sight of the shadowy ship with its tattered sails, Scarlet sensed it meant trouble. And when its lunatic captain forced her aboard, her despair knew no bounds. She could hardly believe her eyes when the stunningly handsome Indian she’d met just once appeared to save her. Chief of the Texas Cougar Clan, Hawke was forbidden to her, but as his dark gaze burned into hers, she knew it would be impossible to resist this...Savage Vision

Considering that you are paying less than $100 for a wireless IP Camera that provides PT (no Zoom), infrared night vision, motion detection, and automatic email of alarm photos, there is very little one can criticize about this camera. Yes, it's tricky to set-up if you have never done port-forwarding before and yes, the frame rate and resolution are both a little low, and the audio is crap, but remember that you paid less than $100 for this thing. If you need audio, higher frame rates and better resolution, you should buy a more expensive IP camera. As far as setup goes, if you understand networking and port-forwarding, these are my recommendations:1) Do NOT install the software on the CD.2) Connect the camera by Cat-5 wire to your router.3) Login to your router (via browser) and find the IP address assigned to your camera.4) Login to the camera at that IP address (via browser) and IMMEDIATELY turn OFF the DHCP.5) Give your camera a... 4/5 R. Beware of a hardware problem introduced on newer Foscam cameras

Summary: Foscam is manufacturing and selling cameras with a known manufacturing defect. If the camera is pointed at a scene with too much detail (trees, grass, wood grain, window screen, etc) the camera will fail by either freezing, displaying black or rebooting. This defect was introduced as the result of a sensor change in December 2012. It was first reported by users to Foscam in May of 2013. Foscam publicly confirmed this manufacturing defect as the DSP in December 2013 and they also put a repair procedure in place. This procedure involves shipping the newly purchased camera to a distributor in Texas for repair. I've personally sent two cameras in for repair; the first repair took 15 days and required a significant amount of effort to process including a BBB complaint. The second repair took 18 days to turn around and was processed easily. Oddly, the serial number of this second camera changed before/after the repair so they seem to have sent a different camera instead of... 1/5 J Den (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Basic Setup/Install Quick, Smartphone Apps have Issues

Day 1 of the new FI9821W Camera. Had the camera setup and running in about 10 minutes. Although, I'm an experienced IT guru and like a few other comments, it's not exactly for the non-techy to configure and setup. I couldn't imagine my brother doing this setup on his own. It did take quite a bit of playing with the cam to get motion detection and the alarm settings the way I needed them. The documentation is lacking some serious QA review, one of the reasons for the 3 stars rather than 4.The most frustrating part is that my iphone5 iOS App "PRO Surveillance" isn't working. While it appears the app supports the cam, I've been able to configure the cam and remotely access the 8921W. However, I have no controls. None of the control features move the cam. I've sent in a request to the App team to inquire.I decided to install the FOSCAM Viewer App (didn't even know it existed before), but even that App had the same issue. SUPERB VIDEO IMAGE, OUTSTANDING LOW LIGHT SENSITIVITY

I recently purchased a Foscam 19810w and have been very pleased with this camera. I took a gamble and got the F19821w v2 based on some positive reviews (albeit) some mixed. The question arises as to whether the newer HD camera is worth almost twice the cost of the 19810w.Pros: Superb, wide video image. Noticeably clearer than the 19810w.Both wifi and hardwire network camera connections work well. Thanks to the superb work of Robert Chou, this camera is easy to view over cellphone using the IP Cam Viewer application. This application easily displays and controls both the 19810w and the 19821w v2.Similarly, this camera (and the 19810w) work flawlessly using the Blue Iris software. Combine the Blue Iris software with a large storage drive and you have a low cost NVR. Blue Iris also has an excellent android app.Cons: Like the 19810(see my previous review), the 19821w v2 is not simple to install. Worked for me

I purchased this camera to monitor a water meter (for my well) in my crawl space. I also use it to check out activity (pests, water build up during heavy rain). Before I installed this camera I would have to enter the crawl space under my deck and open a small door to access. This meant I was going to get dirty and risk the chances of facing a snake (we live in a wooded area) each time I entered. Now I only need to connect to the camera wirelessly. The crawl space is not lighted other than a couple of air vents. I can see most of my crawl space (37 x 55 ft) with one camera (IR on). The only exception is that I cannot see the entrance door (it is behind the camera) and the two corners furthest away that face the camera because my HVAC and well equipment blocks the view.I do not use any of the alarm features and do not record. I only stream the video - which is not HI DEF but shows plenty of details for monitoring a space. Works very well

We were considering either this or a package that included four cheap cameras and a network DVR, but what tipped the scales for us was the built-in wireless and the pan/scan capability that let us get away with fewer cameras and an easier setup.I expect the network configuration stuff, port-forwarding, etc will be the biggest technical hurdle for some (especially if you want to access from the internet or your cell-phone w/o being on the home wireless). If you are already comfortable with port-forwarding/dyndns then it's all very standard stuff. The camera feed works great in all browsers we use (Chrome, Firefox, IE). It also worked on my Android and my wife's iPhone with free (ad-supported) apps. IP Cam Viewer Lite for me, and Net Cam Viewer for her. It may just be me, but I had trouble swiping to reposition the camera on her iPhone app when I tested that, but this isn't a review for that app's interface. I'm happy with the pan/tilt control available with IP Cam... 4/5 Daniel - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Software and manual translations are weak. Fair skill level required.

I was conflicted when I decided to review this product that I ordered under my wife's Amazon account. I really like the hardware and attractive design, though the software setup is very obscure and was not for someone who didn't consider themselves technical. The quick start guide was not particularly helpful and I spent a lot of time (more than four hours) configuring it manually. On price point and value I'd give them five but for ease of setup I'd give them one star. A weighted average for me is three stars for technical users. I think for nontechnical users this could be one or two stars, though. What follows is a bit long winded but hopefully a complete and fair review for those who are thinking about buying this camera. To start - what I like - The cameras are quite good for what they are - low resolution color and IR sensitive cameras with 640x480 resolution. The image is crisp at all ranges (2' to infinity) and the outward appearance is a little whimsical - I... 2/5 Love to Cook (California) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) What follows is a bit long winded but hopefully a complete and fair review for those who are thinking about buying this camera. To start - what I like - The cameras are quite good for what they are - low resolution color and IR sensitive cameras with 640x480 resolution. The image is crisp at all ranges (2' to infinity) and the outward appearance is a little whimsical - I... we love these for baby monitoring

0 5/5 e2drew - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 2 pack Foscam FI8910W Wireless/Wired Pan&Tilt IP Network Camera with IR-Cut Filter for True Color Images - 8 Meter Night Vision and 3.6mm Lens (67° Viewing Angle) - White NEWEST MODEL (replaces the FI8918W) (Electronics) We purchased the set (and now I've recommended them to all our friends having kids) in order to use them as baby monitors. We wanted to be able to watch the baby from the ipad, iphone, computer both in the house as well as outside if we had a baby sitter her. Pretty easy configuration later and it was all setup. The only minor gripe that I have is that if/when we have to reboot our fios router it knocks the things offline until they get rebooted themselves. Thats a wee bit of a pain since one of them is plugged in behind a big piece of furniture and the camera is on top of the big piece of furniture.I found that the best iOS app for monitoring has been Live Cams Pro because it allows for complete control of the camera and supports the 2 way audio. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 15, 2013

    Good, though some quirks.

I ended up purchasing this pack because it was cheaper than buying them individually, plus you get two 9dbi antennas which appear to help with the feed. For me since I've worked with setting up networking equipment in the past, configuring them for use on the wifi network and externally was a breeze. I can see however that users that have no experience in this area would have a difficult time getting these setup. My only difficulty was trying to find a suitable place to mount the cameras for the best angle and functionality, though not a fault of the cameras. When you look at the cameras they look very professional. A small thing I like is that when it is dark and the IR is enabled the lights have a red glow to them which makes the cameras appear ominous. One major function I like about this camera is its ability to move around. Unfortunately however there is no zoom. I do find that sometimes the controls are tricky no matter if using the web interface or a 3rd party... 4/5 meltingcube - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Found out my DSL modem was faulty. After I struggled through the phone company replacement of it, Foscam walked me through the rest of the setup in minutes.Awesome! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 14, 2012

Good camera for the price but FPS is too low for me

For the price of these cameras, they work pretty well. I didn't have any issues setting them up but I am an IT professional (bachelor's degree in CIT) and I am very familiar with networking. I thought the included instructions were good enough to allow most people to set these up without assistance but if you have trouble, there are many how-to articles that can be easily found online. The cameras have a very solid construction. I bought two of these in a set with the larger 9dB antennas included. I ended up not using the larger antennas - well because they are far larger than I expected them to be (probably 8-9 inches long). I have a ~1,300 square foot home and didn't have any issues with signal when using the standard antennas that are about 1/3 the size of the larger ones. The two way audio on the cameras was only OK. It seemed to be better for listening than talking through the camera - which was fine for me because one of the cameras was intended use was just for a baby monitor... 4/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) You don't have to be a tech-but....

If you have never interfaced with your router's software before (and you are not brave!) then this might not be for you. It is not hard to set up. You plug in its AC adapter and plug it into your router. Follow the instructions and wow.The picture is wonderful. The motion alarm is fantastic. We placed on of these inside our barn across the street from our home, about 350 feet away. We added an $80. antenna to our router from Hawking, also available on Amazon, and poof! I can now see what all the sqwak is at 2AM in my barn with out walking all the way out there! Wow, wow, wow. The pan and tilt features are really nice. We setup another at our front door, and three "out door" styles around the outside of the property. I don't know how long this black "indoor" will last in the extreme temps and humitity of our barn and front porch, but that is not Foscam's problem. Way more than I expected!

Where to start...Well I'll open with.. I'm IMPRESSED! I opted to get the white version of the FI8918W just because it was cheaper than the black version and was identical other than the color. I was first concerned because I got two camera's and the first one was "loose" it seemed (camera from the base). The second seems to be identical so this must just be the way these camera's are. I hooked this up directly to my router as per the instructions and tried to determine a standard ip address without having to use the included software. I wasn't able to so then used the mini-disc on my windows 7 PC. The computer prompted for reboot which I did before I noticed the icon on the desktop. When it rebooted I double clicked the icon and after a brief moment it displayed the ip address of the camera. Note: I'm also using zone alarm and it requested access to 255.255.255.255:10000, which I allowed and it displayed the camera. When I double clicked the ip address... 5/5 Corey Perez (Fairbanks (AK)) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Unbelievable performance for the price

There are a ton of well-written reviews for this camera (also check out the other versions, e.g. , ) that give an excellent sense of its many strengths, minor weaknesses, as well as tips for setting up IP cameras in general. I won't rehash the basics, but I will give a brief overview of my setup. Then I'll make a comment on security, and finally go through some of the ways you can extend this camera's capabilities. This last section is where the Foscam truly shines, in my opinion. After all, if I just wanted a no-hassle cam/DVR, I could get something more basic (but much more expensive) off the shelf at Costco or through a residential security company. If you have... 5/5 John Colby (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews, March 1, 2011

I have 4 of these in my house

I'm an IT professional, and these were a little confusing to get working at first. You'll need to create an account at a site like dyndns.org to be able to access these from away from home (assuming you don't have static IPs). You create a hostname like amazonuser.homeip.net and tell each camera to point to that and to a specific port number. Each cam can point to the same hostname but must use a different port. Four cams would use, for example, port 80, 81, 82, and 83. I look at the cams with a free android app called tinyCam Monitor. With that, I can see all 4 cam views simultaneously on my cell phone screen. You double-click on a view to see that one full screen, and you can control the cam movement with touch or physical controls on your phone. I've been using 3G, and the video feed/controls sometimes crap out a little bit (black screen or unresponsive controls), but 4G works a lot better from what I've seen. These things have great night vision too. I'd buy more if I had a bigger... 5/5 JD - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) FOSCAM ROCKS!

Ok, so me and my wife have been pondering for a while on buying an IP camera after having a bad experience with som DVR like Lorex. We tried some Dlink Cameras and they worked, but the image was never clear and it was a hassle to get them working with a mac, iphone or ipad, so had to keep around an old Windows based system for those to work. After reading tons of reviews, and researching what products support our systems, we settled on trying a Foscam pan a tilt camera. We continued to buy the set of 3 cameras with high gain antenas because we have a big house. Well our experience could have not been better, i mean these cameras are GREAT!. They have an excelent video quality to them, the pan and tilt works great and they support 802.11n plus our prefered systems of choice. The only problem at their setup was finding the correct IP since the supplied software for settup is not made by FOSCAM, rather its a shareware (at least for OSX), and i had to log into my router to find the... 5/5 Ricardo Orrantia Ponce "ROP" (Guayaquil, Ecuador) - See all my reviews, October 12, 2012

After only a few months 2 of the 6 cameras stopped working. On one the infrared no longer works, on the other the camera won't power on. Nobody returned our phone calls, but we did get one email response (after sending about 5 emails) telling us that we need to flash a light in front of one camera and replace the power cord on the other. Did flashing a light work? No. Did they send us a replacement power cord? No. Did they respond to repeated emails from me telling them that these solutions were not helpful? Good surveillance cameras

They're a bit hard to set up and require a strong understanding of how to configure Wi-Fi networks. They want you to use Active-X with Internet Explorer, but I tried it on two different Windows PCs and couldn't get the Active-X plug-in to run. You can set them up and use them with other browsers too, but can't use some of the advanced features without Active-X, such as being able to view all the cameras on the same page. So I ended up configuring them to use different ports and access one camera at a time using Chrome or Safari. The cameras do a great job using infrared for night vision. The day time video is nice and gives you a wide-angle view. However, the shots captured when the motion detection activates is not that clear; I mean the photos are clear, but if someone walks by the camera, their face may be blurred. Also, the motion detection can be very sensitive to light changes, especially at the higher settings. The remote controls in positioning and changing the camera's angles... 3/5 Phillip Rodokanakis (Oak Hill, VA USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Worked as advertised. Excellent night vision with infrared

I bought these cameras so I could remotely monitor my elderly mother who is prone to falls. I am extremely pleased with them. The cameras were very easy to set up. If you have no knowledge of networking or setting a remote port, you may need some help from a knowledgable friend or the manufacturer, but I had no real difficulty following the instructions and getting the cameras up and running. I had to run the wifi setup on one of them a couple times to get my Apple Time Capsule to recognize it but it then worked fine. I needed the infrared as I would be monitoring a totally dark bedroom. It is unbelievable. I laughed one night watching my cat walking around my Mom's bed and finally settling down next to her head. Her eyes shone like two bright LED's. It was a hoot. I downloaded an app from the app store for my iPhone to monitor the cameras and I am now able to monitor the cameras easily from anywhere over WiFi or 3g. The video is choppy on 3G but usable.
