About this book
Vision of loveliness: She was as elusive as the legendary deer he was hunting—a creature of mist and shadow, there one moment and gone the next. Like his quarry, her skin glowed white as moonlight, but her hair was scarlet and she showed no fear at his approach. And when he laid eyes on her, Chief Hawke knew she must be his. Vision of danger: From her first sight of the shadowy ship with its tattered sails, Scarlet sensed it meant trouble. And when its lunatic captain forced her aboard, her despair knew no bounds. She could hardly believe her eyes when the stunningly handsome Indian she’d met just once appeared to save her. Chief of the Texas Cougar Clan, Hawke was forbidden to her, but as his dark gaze burned into hers, she knew it would be impossible to resist this...Savage Vision

    Excellent Features for the Price

Considering that you are paying less than $100 for a wireless IP Camera that provides PT (no Zoom), infrared night vision, motion detection, and automatic email of alarm photos, there is very little one can criticize about this camera. Yes, it's tricky to set-up if you have never done port-forwarding before and yes, the frame rate and resolution are both a little low, and the audio is crap, but remember that you paid less than $100 for this thing. If you need audio, higher frame rates and better resolution, you should buy a more expensive IP camera. As far as setup goes, if you understand networking and port-forwarding, these are my recommendations:1) Do NOT install the software on the CD.2) Connect the camera by Cat-5 wire to your router.3) Login to your router (via browser) and find the IP address assigned to your camera.4) Login to the camera at that IP address (via browser) and IMMEDIATELY turn OFF the DHCP.5) Give your camera a... 4/5 R. Beware of a hardware problem introduced on newer Foscam cameras

Summary: Foscam is manufacturing and selling cameras with a known manufacturing defect. If the camera is pointed at a scene with too much detail (trees, grass, wood grain, window screen, etc) the camera will fail by either freezing, displaying black or rebooting. This defect was introduced as the result of a sensor change in December 2012. It was first reported by users to Foscam in May of 2013. Foscam publicly confirmed this manufacturing defect as the DSP in December 2013 and they also put a repair procedure in place. This procedure involves shipping the newly purchased camera to a distributor in Texas for repair. I've personally sent two cameras in for repair; the first repair took 15 days and required a significant amount of effort to process including a BBB complaint. The second repair took 18 days to turn around and was processed easily. Oddly, the serial number of this second camera changed before/after the repair so they seem to have sent a different camera instead of... 1/5 J Den (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Excellent value for money - with some caveats

This camera really is very good value for money. We received it as a gift from our baby registry to use as a baby monitor for our first child.I'm a software engineer by trade so I had very little trouble setting up the camera and configuring it for use. However, I could see it being confusing for people with less of a technical/networking background.PROS- The web interface lets you control all the features very simply. There are loads of features on the camera - more than we needed for our simple baby monitoring scenario- The camera works great on several WiFi versions; I've used 802.11g and 802.11n with it. Note that the camera doesn't work on the 5Ghz 802.11n band, although to put that in perspective, neither does the newest iPhone 4S so this isn't that big of a deal- The infra-red night vision is really very good. Crystal clear video, with picture quality as good as you get from the camera when the room is fully-lit- Very good range... 4/5 cassian78 "cassian78" (Orlando, FL United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Easy Ultra Baby Monitor

I dont know why there are so many negative reviews on these cameras on Amazon. I know that the company selling these is spamming the reviews but, as you can see, my purchase is verified.I had used a for quite some time and went through 3 cameras and two handsets. I finally gave up and bought these two cameras. If you are using these as baby monitors I would suggest the black version as the white ones have an LED inside of them that lights up pretty bright and can be seen through the white plastic. Here is how I set them up:First I plugged them into power and an ethernet port on my router. Then I logged into my router and saw what IP address they were assigned.I then typed the IP address into firefox (or pale moon for 64bit).I... 5/5 Bill "Computers, Electronics, Cars, and Detai... The Foscam F18910W is an very good IP camera at a good price. Once setup and functioning, it is easy to operate and very effectively allows me to monitor my home while traveling. However, unless you're knowledgeable about IP's, how to establish a website, proxies, etc. you will need to allow a substantial amount of time to educate yourself or find a friend with the necessary understanding and get them to help you set it up. There was effectively no technical support available to me from Foscam despite my various efforts. First thing you're told in a recorded message when you call them is that if you purchased the camera from Amazon or another retailer rather than directly from them, they will not help you unless you pay them and let them remotely control your computer. They did indicate that you could email a specific question to them for assistance, and I did try that but never heard back from them. You don't have to be a tech-but....

If you have never interfaced with your router's software before (and you are not brave!) then this might not be for you. It is not hard to set up. You plug in its AC adapter and plug it into your router. Follow the instructions and wow.The picture is wonderful. The motion alarm is fantastic. We placed on of these inside our barn across the street from our home, about 350 feet away. We added an $80. antenna to our router from Hawking, also available on Amazon, and poof! I can now see what all the sqwak is at 2AM in my barn with out walking all the way out there! Wow, wow, wow. The pan and tilt features are really nice. We setup another at our front door, and three "out door" styles around the outside of the property. I don't know how long this black "indoor" will last in the extreme temps and humitity of our barn and front porch, but that is not Foscam's problem. I will update at the end of the winter, or sooner if they die during winter!4/3/11 Well they made it... 5/5 kat (Sutton, VT, United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Way more than I expected!

Where to start...Well I'll open with.. I'm IMPRESSED! I opted to get the white version of the FI8918W just because it was cheaper than the black version and was identical other than the color. I was first concerned because I got two camera's and the first one was "loose" it seemed (camera from the base). The second seems to be identical so this must just be the way these camera's are. I hooked this up directly to my router as per the instructions and tried to determine a standard ip address without having to use the included software. I wasn't able to so then used the mini-disc on my windows 7 PC. The computer prompted for reboot which I did before I noticed the icon on the desktop. When it rebooted I double clicked the icon and after a brief moment it displayed the ip address of the camera. Note: I'm also using zone alarm and it requested access to 255.255.255.255:10000, which I allowed and it displayed the camera. When I double clicked the ip address... 5/5 Corey Perez (Fairbanks (AK)) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Unbelievable performance for the price

There are a ton of well-written reviews for this camera (also check out the other versions, e.g. , ) that give an excellent sense of its many strengths, minor weaknesses, as well as tips for setting up IP cameras in general. I won't rehash the basics, but I will give a brief overview of my setup. Then I'll make a comment on security, and finally go through some of the ways you can extend this camera's capabilities. This last section is where the Foscam truly shines, in my opinion. After all, if I just wanted a no-hassle cam/DVR, I could get something more basic (but much more expensive) off the shelf at Costco or through a residential security company. If you have... 5/5 John Colby (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews, March 1, 2011

0 5/5 Grandpa (Virginia) - See all my reviews This review is from: Foscam FI9821P Plug & Play Megapixel 1.0 Megapixel 1280 x 720 Wireless/Wired Pan/Tilt IP Camera with IR-Cut (Black) (Electronics) I installed this camera's viewer on my wife's phone and my I-pad without a hitch. The picture quality knocked my socks off. But I couldn't get it to work on my P/C. I gave up and called Foscam Technical Support. A Foscam technician by the computer name of Max Bright straightened the whole thing out for me in no time. I had firewall, password, and port forwarding issues (almost sounds like I know what I'm talking about) that Max fixed. I'm 74, hard of hearing and technically challenged, so I really appreciated how patient Max was with me and how clearly he spoke. Max took control of my P/C and showed me where I went astray. Don't hesitate to buy this camera because Max will be there to make sure it works for you. This is a great product from a great company of great people. My son and daughter live in New York and now they can see our backyard on Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia thanks to Foscam and Max. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 3, 2014

    Good, though some quirks.

I ended up purchasing this pack because it was cheaper than buying them individually, plus you get two 9dbi antennas which appear to help with the feed. For me since I've worked with setting up networking equipment in the past, configuring them for use on the wifi network and externally was a breeze. I can see however that users that have no experience in this area would have a difficult time getting these setup. My only difficulty was trying to find a suitable place to mount the cameras for the best angle and functionality, though not a fault of the cameras. When you look at the cameras they look very professional. A small thing I like is that when it is dark and the IR is enabled the lights have a red glow to them which makes the cameras appear ominous. One major function I like about this camera is its ability to move around. Unfortunately however there is no zoom. I do find that sometimes the controls are tricky no matter if using the web interface or a 3rd party... 4/5 meltingcube - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great camera for the price

This review is from: Foscam FI8910W Black 2-pack Pan & Tilt Wireless IP Camera with 9dbi Antennas (Electronics) Great camera and the technical support is the best I have ever received on any product! They actually, with my permission of course, took control of my bPC and walked me through the issues. Found out my DSL modem was faulty. After I struggled through the phone company replacement of it, Foscam walked me through the rest of the setup in minutes.Awesome! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 14, 2012

Good camera for the price but FPS is too low for me

For the price of these cameras, they work pretty well. I didn't have any issues setting them up but I am an IT professional (bachelor's degree in CIT) and I am very familiar with networking. I thought the included instructions were good enough to allow most people to set these up without assistance but if you have trouble, there are many how-to articles that can be easily found online. The cameras have a very solid construction. I bought two of these in a set with the larger 9dB antennas included. I ended up not using the larger antennas - well because they are far larger than I expected them to be (probably 8-9 inches long). I have a ~1,300 square foot home and didn't have any issues with signal when using the standard antennas that are about 1/3 the size of the larger ones. The two way audio on the cameras was only OK. It seemed to be better for listening than talking through the camera - which was fine for me because one of the cameras was intended use was just for a baby monitor... 4/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Nice hardware, iffy software

0 3/5 Justin the Engineer "Justin" (Pittsburgh, PA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Foscam FI8910W 2-Pack Bundle (White) with 9dbi Antennas and 7-Piece Adjustable Bracket (Camera) First, let me qualify my review. I am an electrical engineer who designs and programs control systems and human-machine interfaces.Ok, from a hardware standpoint, I was very pleased with this product. They look nice and generate a nice picture. No complaints on the hardware side of things. From a software standpoint, they leave something to be desired.Setup is a little tricky and directions are a bit vague on certain points. A setup wizard would be very nice, but sadly you don't get one. Scratch one star. The Foscam cell phone app is useless; I couldn't get it to work at all on my Motorola Droid 2. Scratch star number two. Fortunately, there are numerous free third party apps that work very well.To be fair, once you get the thing up and running, it's a nice piece of equipment, especially for the price. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 17, 2013

    Excellent

I can't recommend this product enough for use as a baby monitor. But 1st let me say that for indoor baby monitor use, YOU DO NOT NEED THE EXTRA HARDWARE. The cameras came with everything needed. All these extra parts are still sitting in my garage with no foreseeable use.I have one in each of my children's rooms, and use an iPad/iPhone app called live cams pro ($5)These cameras are cheaper then video monitors labeled for babies, yet are astoundingly better quality pictures and loaded with great features when used with the live cams pro app.The camera software it comes with for your computer does not support sound. It tells you how to get sound, but that download also adds a bunch of spyware to your computer. The instructions are not "fantastic" but a non techy like me figured it out. My husband - the techy, went back in and fine tuned out settings to lock the IP address so it didn't keep wanting to change it, and end up losing signal and not hearing... 5/5 Gina - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) motion images/video is very dissappointing

Firstly, I immediately updated the firmware to the latest based on my research prior to my purchase. The update process was flawless (make sure to do it from a wired connection). The configuration process was relatively easy as well. The "IP Camera Tool" software (included with the camera) used to locate the camera(s) on the network works very well and web browser interaction (SeaMonkey, Firefox, and Internet Explorer) worked equally as well (both wired and wireless). The Foscam forums have a wealth of helpful information. I especially appreciated the topic(s) discussing how to disable the embedded My.Foscam.org DDNS setting in the firmware configuration. This is otherwise not configurable through the normal user interface (UI). Really, must this be a default with the inability to simply disable it? The not-so-savvy users could open the cam for full viewing by the general public if they are not careful. Good attempt, but not functional due to networking issues.

Good attempt, but not functional due to networking issues.I have mixed feelings about this camera, but after the latest firmware upgrade, I'm about to give up on Foscam. One recurring issue that I've been patiently putting up with is slow response of its Web interface. It takes half a minute for the interface to respond. Pressing camera Pan and Tilt (PT) arrows have no effect on the camera until you press up, down, left or right few times, then the camera moves too far, you have to press the opposite arrow few times to get it to move, then again, it moves passed the point where you want it to be pointing.Second disappointment is the image quality. You could see general contours of people and objects, but the detail is somewhat grainy. Perhaps quality image is not something that should be expected from a sub $100 camera.Third disappointment is that audio only works in Internet Explorer (IE) and only if you install a Foscam ActiveX control... 1/5 VSM "VM" (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews This review is from: 3 pack Foscam FI8910W Black Wireless/Wired Pan & Tilt IP/Network Camera with 9dbi Antennas (Camera) Good attempt, but not functional due to networking issues.I have mixed feelings about this camera, but after the latest firmware upgrade, I'm about to give up on Foscam. One recurring issue that I've been patiently putting up with is slow response of its Web interface.
